In June 2022 the young baritone Bernhard Hansky made his acclaimed debut at  Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin singing the role of Ping (Turandot) in the new production of Philipp Stölzl and under the baton of Maestro Zubin Mehta. Shortly before he took over concerts on short notice with the Orchestre Nationale de Lille singing Mahlers cycle "Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen".

He had previously been an ensemble member at the Hamburgische Staatsoper and the Semperoper Dresden where he sang such roles as Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Don Alvaro (Il viaggio a Reims), Dr. Falke (Die Fledermaus), Nick Carraway (The Great Gatsby), Masetto (Don Giovanni), Kilian (Der Freischütz) and Moralès (Carmen). He now appears there as a regular guest.
 

Among his guest engagements are appearances with such companies as Staatstheatern Wiesbaden, Wuppertal and Mainz as well as Staatsoper Berlin, Osterfestspielen Salzburg, Staatsoperette Dresden, Teatro Luciano Pavarotti di Modena, Festival Rossini Wildbad, and the Birgitta Opera Festival in Tallinn and Kopenhagen. In the summer, 2016 he sang the title role in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Estates Theatre Prague, the place where it had its world premiere. His repertoire includes Figaro und Conte d’Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Don Giovanni, Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Dandini (La Cenerentola), Landsknecht (Simplicius Simplicissimus), Dr. Falke (Die Fledermaus), Hermann/Schlémil (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) and Farfarello (L‘amour de trois oranges).
 

He has worked with conductors like Christian Thielemann, Kent Nagano, Alessandro DeMarchi, Alexander Soddy, Patrick Lange, Frédéric Chaslin, Jonathan Darlington, Wayne Marshall and Omer Meir Wellber.
 

In 2012-2013, as the award winner of the Bundeswettbewerb für Gesang, he was a member of the Young Artist program of the Komische Oper Berlin. He made his professional stage debut in the role of Dandini in La Cenerentola at the National Theatre in Brno in 2010.
 

He got his musical eduction at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin where his teachers where Hanno Müller-Brachmann and Roman Trekel. In masterclasses he got the chance to work with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Angelika Kirchschlager, Deborah Polaski and Brigitte Fassbaender, who is still his teacher.
 

The young baritone is also active on the concert stage and appears regularly in song recitals and
oratorios, recently as Mendelssohn’s Paulus as well as Raphael/Adam in Die Schöpfung under the baton of Václav Luks. He took part in CD productions of the Danish opera Peters Bryllup (Harmonia Mundi) as well as in Cantates Spirituelles with works of the baroque composer Rene Drouart de Bousset.
 

Since 2019 Bernhard Hansky is teaching at the Brandenburg summer festival Oper Oder Spree and most recently started his own Podcast Parlando where he interviews renowned personalities from the opera world.
